Bible Study

We invite you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon:

Sermon Outline

  • Who Is John?
  • A message proclaimed.
  • A joy complete.
  • A light walked in.

  • This week take the 5 chapters of 1 John and read through them twice. This will help you get the flow of the book and familiar yourself with John’s language.
  • How would you explain the message John is passionately proclaiming? How does John know this message is true?
  • Read John chapter 1 and then 1 John 1. What words are similar? What topics are parallel?
  • Who might the Holy Spirit be nudging you to reach out to so your joy might be complete?
  • What might the Holy Spirit be urging you to bring into the light?
  • How is the resurrection life a life of walking in the light? What is the source of the light?
  • Let Jesus be present to you in and through his written word. We have a SAPC reading plan we’ll be following this year and would invite you to join us as we read God’s word together. Pick up a copy on Sunday or download it here.
  • Because of this sermon, how has your life changed, matured, or challenged?
  • Who will you tell and what because of what you just heard?
  • How would you explain this to a small child?

The outline and application questions are intended for your further reflection and action upon the weekend message. They are also designed to facilitate discussion and accountability within your Life Group community.
